Henry Pleas is a dynamic, personally engaging presence on the opera and concert stage. He has appeared as leading tenor in operatic productions throughout the United States. He has appeared as soloist for Lyric Opera of Chicago, Opera Grand Rapids, Skylight Opera Theater, Chicago Opera Theater, South Bend Lyric Opera and South Shore Opera Company of Chicago. He has appeared in the title role in Tales of Hoffmann, Rodolfo in La Boheme, Tamino in the Magic Flute, Turiddu in Cavalleria Rusticana, and Don Jose in Carmen, among others. Pleas appears frequently as soloist in concert with orchestra, choruses and with other collaborators. He is a frequent recitalist.
Henry Pleas' work as a music educator and arts administrator and producer has increased in the past several. He teaches on the faculty of Govenor's State University, was a member of the voice faculty at North Central College and currently serves as the President of the chicago-based not for profit: New Rhythm Arts Collaborative. Pleas is a curator of a variety of musical concert projects that celebrate diversity in music. Programs have include cultural topics ranging from Works associated to W.E.B. Dubois' "Souls of Black Folk" to a celebration of Freedom and Democracy despite political unrest called: "PlainChant for America".
